Most of us are always looking at the house that's better than us and never the homeless. Only when everything gets taken away do we realize the beauty of what we had and didn't appreciate... so here's hoping we can all find things we are grateful for.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my American friends.
In fact we should all give thanks for the pleasures we do have...
I would also like to thank Jeff and Meleah for the wonderful awards they bestowed on me. To Jeff whose own blog is such a great blend of humor and strength and honest vulnerability, '
The "Be the Blog Award" is given to blogs that, according to Mark, "really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun."
Thank you for the wonderful BTB award and your kind words....
"Now, to nominate someone for this award. I will have to give it to Random Magus. Every time I read that blog, I usually find something there that makes me think. I haven't really been able to get back into the swing of reading and commenting on blogs lately, but RM was the first thing that popped into my mind. I have noticed that she hasn't written in a while, but her archives are just full of thoughtful nuggets that will keep you busy until she gets back."
I in turn would like to present this award to Greg, whose blogs are a constant source of entertainment and education... an who is a kick ass writer
And to my lovely friend Meleah whose blogs I love and who is such an amazing person, strong and kind..
Rules: The people given this award are encouraged to post it on their own blogs; list three things they believe are necessary for good, powerful writing; and then pass the award on to the five blogs they want to honour, who in turn pass it on to five others, etc etc. Let’s send a roar through the blogosphere!
Three Things I Believe Are Necessary For Good Powerful Writing:
1. The desire to write
2. Discipline
3. Knowledge of random things
I would like to pass this on to the following blogs because of their sheer writing prowess
The Angry Barcode aka Intellectual Hedonism

Thank you for the award and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you too. :-)
PS... I really liked your three things needed to write. 2 - Discipline
VERY true!!!
CONGRATS for your awards, Amber! I LOVE what you said about the Thanksgiving spirit. Human nature is really taking things for granted until they're gone.
thank you this thanksgiving!!! you are an angel as always... i am thinking of doing a meme post sunday... so i'll thank you again then......
I try everyday to note things that I am thankful for, despite whatever else is going on in my life. It does become too easy to focus on the negatives and what we don't have, but in reality we are all so very blessed!
Well said, well said! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Random, no matter what we have we always want more.
And we want it to be 'ours' ...
even when we haven't got time to use it, or enjoy it.
And even when we have it all, (love, money, health, friends) we are worried about losing it all
Congratulations on your award, Amber! Found you through The Rising Blogger.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Congrats! Being thankful is tough... We only have to watch the news and know what we should be thankful for but I think we are desensitized. I guess that's why Thanksgiving is so important... to remind us.
PS: I've tagged you with the Blue Tea Meme... no obligation... only if you want to :)))
Happy Thanksgiving!! :)
CONGRATS!!
.....and Thank you!
YOU ARE THE BEST
Congrats on your awards. And Happy Thanksgiving! I know it probably isnt celebrated there... it isn't here either! But...it's the spirit of thanks that counts right?
Magnus,
Found you on some blog babe list. And while I can see why you were listed as a 'babe' I was happily surprised to see you had a brain too.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
A good post, Amber. Well written.
AMBER...
I HOPE YOU DONT MIND, BUT I WAS REALLY OFFENDED AND I HAD TO SAY SOMETHING.
SOME LOSER DUDE HAS A BLOG CALLED "BLOG BABE LIST" AND YOU ARE LISTED. (IN A DEROGATORY FASHION)
I LEFT THIS COMMENT (see below) ON HIS BLOG (WHICH I AM SURE HE WILL DELETE...BUT I JUST COULDN'T LET IT GO)
"how rude and distasteful... to talk about my friend AMBER like that...... if you knew ANYTHING about her, you'd know she doesn't have any interest in playing with your "balls"
....shes a happily married, SMART, and a beautiful girl inside and out.
..... it makes me sick that you are using her image and good reputation on your blog-o-be-rate women...
sorry if you hate women, and see them as objects instead of PEOPLE....
I usually IGNORE the internet TROLLS...SUCH AS YOU...but she is my friend...and you are an ASSHOLE."
I AM SORRY IF I HAVE OVER STEPPED ANY BOUNDARIES.... NO ONE TALKS SHIT ABOUT MY GIRLFRIENDS.
Michelle: Thanks :-D
Amel's Realm: Thanks - the sad thing is that we realize how precious things are only when we lose them
Paisley: A meme - that's going to be so interesting. I have been wanting to create one si badly
Rambler: Thanks
Josie Two Shoes: I have started doing that. But I think it's human nature to always look at people who have more than us and never at people who have less - so that we may give thanks
Blurting: Thanks Blur
Quasar9: First worry about getting then worry about losing - life sometimes is one big WORRY
Vid Digger:
Thank you... to you as well. I will check out the Rising blogger -
Dawn:
I'd love to do the meme...
meleah rebeccah:
Thanks - you totally rock yourself :-D
JYankee:
Thanks - you're absolutely correct. It is the spirit that counts
just me:
Thanks for visiting. And trust me no one asked me whether I wanted to be on that list.
John:
Thanks - hope you had a great one as well
Jean-Luc Picard:
Thank you very much
meleah rebeccah:
Thanks for the defense. I think some guys get over their insecurities by objectifying women and I am sure there are lots of women who like being objectified...
You are good friend... muuuaahhh
Magnus...maybe another take on that blog list site is that it isn't meant to objectify women at
all. I saw the trite jokes and innuendos as an ironic take on society's sexualization of women. I just hope that visitors actually click on the links of the ladiesand read some of their blogs so that they can see that these are ladies with intelligence, humor, and ideas that go far beyond their physical appearance.
Personally, I'd rather someone put up a link to my site claiming I'm attractive rather than some slap list where they're insulting me. Think what you will, but I just wanted to offer another take.
Chanced into your blog today and read a few posts. Also your introduction. And I must say, you've got it right -- about what makes a good blog :-)
Expect to come back here to read some of the older posts...
Scott: We all have different perspectives - to some Fashion Shows are empowering whereas to others they are the opposite. But I do know that a site that has a name 'The Most Bangeable Babe' is certainly not doing any service to women. Maybe you should visit it again to read the descriptions he uses while describing the ladies and place yourself as one of the girls he's talking about.
Shantanu: Thank you very much
Amber thank you, you are the best!! If I ever find myself in Dubai I'm taking you and your husband out to dinner at a 7 star restaurant. :-)
Heh Congrats Amber & welcome back!
Congratulations and thank-you for inclu
Congratulations and thank-you for including me!
I'm still telling the homeless about you. Thanks.
Thanks for the kind words!
