An Observation - take it at face value!!!

So much of our life's lived on the net not only with friends we haven't met but also with our other friends... with a phenomenon called Facebook.

I've met my really old friends who I hadn't seen for ages, my work friends from way back when... best friends who live in various cities, friends of friends I might have partied with, random people met once or twice in life...

What's scary is that sometimes people seem more fun from behind a screen, they are easier to deal with, a fewer conflicts arise, we have the capability to use the delete button [unfortunately the 'edit' facility is sometimes lost when we are face to face ;)].

Although people find ways to create conflict and fight on Facebook as well it's far more subtle and long drawn.... and sometimes enjoyable to watch a fascinating treat for the voyeur lurking in all of us.

Very soon I feel all life will be lived sitting in front of a computer.

lol Random,
the answer seems to be live life like if it were on the net ...
when there's something annoying just turn away
when there's something really annoying just edit or delete away

Life truly would be a gem if we could ignore or edit all that which makes it grey, whether it be a bad moment with our parents, sibblings, loved ones or even friends not far away ...

So much to do, so much to see
why do we spend so much time dwelling on sadness or bitterness
which really really has no place
It really has no power, but that we endow it with ... it is a pity in real life we have lost the edit or delete button, and often react angrily to what is sometimes no more than an irksome itch.

When on the net you get time to consier your reaction. Strangeely the net slows things down so you can think and also suppress those reactions and ...ums... that otherwise spoil the presentation youwould like to use. Plus if you want to be smart-arsed you can check your facts too.

I'm like Paisley. I couldn't imagine spending any more time on the net than I do w/blogging. Yikes! Then I really would become a hermit!

How true, Amber, sometimes I ask myself if I am truly living, or just blogging about life! :-)

Quasar9: I'm seriously trying to work on creating my edit button... although sometimes I fail quite spectacularly

Lord Mat: The amazing power of hindsight easily available through the net

Paisley: i think I've the greatest potential to do so...

hollygl: I think I have a tendency to be obsessive in any case

Josie Two Shoes: Blogging about life is sometimes s much easier than living life

How easy it is to fall into the pattern...as it is an interesting realm to be in.
I keep myself "real" or at least my kids do , and put those limits on myself. If I don't getting caught up in the Net is very easy to do, and I am already a hermit as it is...

Box'd and Button'd

I just realized that I'm spending about 80 per cent of the time in front of some kind of box - be it the computer, the TV or even the mobile phone.

And it becomes really scary when I instictively think of the 'Search' button when I'm looking for a matching sock.

Plus, it has become a 'life of buttons.' Wherever you are right now, if you look around, can you really count the number of buttons around you? Once I made an attempt to count, and I think I counted about 150... and I didn't quite finish counting either. Anywhere I looked there were buttons of all kinds - keyboard, telephone, AC, microwave, kettle, TV, remotes, lights.... wonder how people EVER lived without buttons to press???

The world has become a 2-dimensional screen, the mouse an extension of the hand and very soon you can talk to me only in HTML.

Jodi: I try to do the same as well... like try to pull away for a while

Zakman: Lol... it would be cool though i we could speak in HTML

I love facebook although some of my friends hate it: it seems to be a love/hate thing. One of my mates even started a 'so over face book' group on facebook itself. ( But I suspect that was a way of getting people to talk to him on facebook! He's since deleted his account leaving his group without a pilot!) Any takers?

As for conflict, I think facebook is one of the worst forums to sort out stuff between two people. I know of one guy who got quite hurt by people ganging up on him. The problem is,like with texts and e-mails, you lose body language and nuances in words, delivery etc and people get a different message that you intended. Face to face every time, even if it hurts.

Mike French: Facebook is kind of addictive - but not as much as blogging. The one really great thing about FB is how easily you can contact your old friends and how you can send each other group messages. Its great when you've been friends since school but now all live in different cities - email doesn't have that element of speed as Facebook
