Hi!

Hey guys sorry for disappearing like this. Had a little too much on my plate, physically, mentally and emotionally. College was crazy, dad was over, had to handle too many unexpected series of bad news.

Now I am trying to quit smoking - and it's not easy. Just had two today... So have been pretty much residing [read that as hiding] in my shell. It takes so much effort even to peak out. I'm slightly imbalanced that way. But today I thought I must.

Waiting for some pretty big news which I will get in around ten days so wish me luck and remember me in your prayers.

Nervous as hell about it!

Hi, Amber, glad to have you back!

Sorry to hear about your crazy days. GOOD LUCK in trying to quit smoking and in the big news!

So your b'day's coming soon, eh? That's GREAT! ;-D

Hello, I am new to your blog and have been reading some of your older posts. Glad to see you back.

I have tried to quit smoking several times in my life and am still smoking. I think quitting smoking is probably one of the hardest habits to break. I wish you the best of luck with that!

Chewing gum. That's what helped me quit. Whenever you need a cigarette, just pop in a wrigley's extra or something. You have to buy a lot of gum, but it's cheaper than tobacco, at least.

Hope things work out well for you.
And yes, you are always in my prayer.

Hi! Already said a lil prayer 4u :-)

Hope things go well, and good luck with giving up smoking. I suppose the smoking ban in the malls might help to a slight degree, that is, if you're a mallgoer, which I suppose all of us are to a certain extent in Dubai!

Hey Amber!

You would be in my prayers. Don't be too nervous ok?

I am glad to see you post. I am sorry things have been crazy lately.

Good luck in your efforts to quit smoking. I used to smoke a lot. Quitting is hard, but can definitely be done.

Welcome back, and good luck with whatever the mystery news is...I hope it turns out as you wish. And keep up with the effort to quit smoking, because we'll have the pleasure of your digital company that much longer! Quitting can be done: I've never smoked, but Agnes did when we first met...as soon as she decided she liked me, and knew I didn't like the habit, she quit cold turkey and hasn't had a cigarette since. Hang in there! Bilbo.

Seiche:
Will do - if there's anything to keep in the loop about though.

Amel's Realm:
Yep - it's close

Pen and the Sword:
Hey welcome and thanks for stopping by. It really is - although honestly I have never even tried to quit before. I wish I had.

noisms:
Now I know why people put on weight when they quite for the past two days whenever I've had a really terrible urge I have eaten something instead said...

Thank you :)

Hi - I think smoking for me is more of a reflex habit. I don't smoke much - maximum 10 a day but lately with all the news I've been surrounded with, I want to quit.

Titania Starlight:
Thank you - I really really need them :)

Rambler:
I have to - its like a challemge now!

i*maginate:
Thanks - I didn't think there would ever come a day when I would be saying - great to that. Shows how selfish we all are. When the ban was imposed I was among the fore-runners in complaining about our right to smoke and now here i am on the other side and heaving a sigh of relief that at least at malls we are legally not allowed to smoke :)

WaterLearner:
Trying not to be. Thank you!

Ingrid:
I need to hear that - it can be done, it can be done, it can be done :)

Bilbo:
Wow - cold turkey. I'm SO impressed!
It ain't easy

QUASAR9:
:-D
meeoowww

Josie Two Shoes:
Hey. It's really cowardly of me but I just hide and wait to be strong again before I make contact with others.

meleah rebeccah:
It is dawning on me just how difficult it is. So I'm doing it in stages. From two a day to one to none!

I used to smoke! I actually would smoke while jogging...LOL! People looked at me like I was crazy but I just couldn't wait.

Good luck with whatever it is!

Well I hope the news you await is good news and life can throw a lot at you at once. Good to see you back. Sending good vibes your way.

Oh, Amber, quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I had smoked off and on since I was 20, quite for six years once, started up again, and quit again a little over two years ago. Its tough, but not impossible. You'll do it, I know you will.

Blur Ting said...

Stay cool, and keep us posted. I wish everything turn out alright for you.

You will thank yourself for having the willpower to quit smoking. I still want to buy myself a drink for kicking that nasty habit.

Good luck in quitting smoking and with whatever big news you are waiting on!

Thanks for your comments, I'll be returning the favour from now on :)

Hang in there with quiting smoking. Keep your eyes on the prize. What are the things that you want most? Keep that before you all the time. Write it on the mirror, write notes to yourself, whatever it takes. You'll get down the road and find the hold to lessen. I'll be praying.

Anonymous said...

Just tobacco? That's cool.

Enjoy it. After all, it was Oscar Wilde who said, "A cigarette is the perfect kind of a perfect pleasure."

Hi Amber

So many of us have had mad, bad busy times lately. Sending you a big ((hug)) and lots of "I hate smoking" thoughts to your tastebuds ;-)

Hope your "news in ten days" brings you peace.

I know people who have managed to quite smoking even after a 30 year addiction. Perseverence will pay off. The only person who can change you is yourself. Believe in your potential and a bigger world opens than one you already know.

John A Hill said...

Hey Amber,
Just noting the calendar puts your ten days at tomorrow. My prayers are with you. I hope that the smoking thing is working out for you, too.

Stealth:
I am cursing myself for starting that's for sure.

zero_zero_one:
The good thing is that my home city is suddenly turning from a smokers' haven to politically correct as far as smoking is concerned.

Phil:
Concentrating on just that!

Zakman:
Ahh! Oscar Wilde - one of absolute favorites

Michelle:
I wish I had never started - how I wish :(

Liara Covert:
