My mind drifts as I look around the class - the teacher truly uninspiring, I spiral into a mindless boredom - an insane numbing of the mind.
I drift...
...so many faces... so many disguises.
I wonder what they are thinking? what secrets they hide... what joys they await... what pains they endure...
Do we ever really get to know the person next to us? or are they like me?
Forever guarded!
A reality created with great care - never too revealing, never too open... always wanting to appear perfect... not always achieving that.
It would be good to break free and not need anyone's approval
So why do some of us need constant validation? When we know what we are worth why don't we believe?
We all start with the same slate... then why do some people never seem to need anyone's approval, so sure of themselves - not needing anyone.
Is it nature or nurture?
Are we products of where we are born and to whom we are born?
Does life happen to us or do we happen to life?
How do we break free...how do we unlearn?
Can we create a new identity or are the chains of our DNA too strong?

Amber, for the thinking blogger award, we just saved it to image shack and then displayed it from there. I don't know if you are supposed to do a link back or not, but we didn't. Congrats!

Its the nature that we nurture...
the ways n life is all kind diffrerent equations..how we add weight to them is like partly by fate n partly by us..
Very profound thought Amber, yet another very good blog.
I agree with Dream Catcher wholeheartedly - it's the nature that we nurture. Well said!
you ask so many questions.. and, to me the answer to all of them seems to be "follow your heart"... if your heart takes you places that break the roles of dna, or nature, or nurture, or society, or whatever it is you want to call it... but the call is so strong you cannot resist... you will go... or spend the rest of your life wondering what if......till then, be the best you can be at what you are...naturally.....
Certifiable: Is it okay to name your link as Totally Pissed off when I link back to you?
Dream Catcher: But the nature we nurture is sometimes the one we most want to escape
The Real Mother Hen: Thank you....
Paisley: There are so many questions...I think I run around chasing questions in my head all the time sometimes forgetting to simply live and enjoy...
Great post! I beleive that we can break the bonds of genetics. Our sprits have no attachements to the physical unless we ourselves stay trapped in that illusion. If we transcend above thinking we are just humans and realize we are spirits it is a bit more easy to break self perceived limitations. We can do or be anything. :o)
It is all a story so of course you can rewrite any time you want. That is choice.
I think that the questions change over time - the masks we chose to show do also - and the doors we open or peek behind constantly revolve
Random, if you look at it from a very broad perspective, don’t you think that ‘not needing anyone’s approval’ is a necessity in itself….. a need that ‘I don’t need anyone’s approval.’ When I believe in my own goodness and the goodness of people around me, I don’t need that.
And when one truly knows one’s worth, one doesn’t even THINK about other people; let alone validation. One has a goal, and will pursue that. Period.
And I don’t think it’s nature... it’s how you’re brought up, what values you’re taught, what kind of exposure you’re given, how much you’re loved... or otherwise.
The ones who were born handicapped or born into a ‘low’ society (as they still exist in some third world countries) and acquired greatness must have done it by sheer hard work. Must have been double uphill without a natural backing.
You know, all these things and more, they keep reminding me of one thing: Quality is never a coincidence. Nor is it accidental or dna.
A friend of mine used to say, "What someone else thinks about you is none of your business". I used to debate him about that incessantly.
It is true - in a way - though. I think people view us through their own personal filters of experience. Their lens contains nicks and scratches, and beautiful colors and shading, all based on what has gone before. I don't think we really have all that much control over their complete perception of us.
I, personally, believe that it is mostly nurture over nature. That said, I believe that we are all fully capable of screwing up an excellent upbringing, or rising valiantly above a horrific one.
I'm so glad you're back, by the way! :)
Thanks....It's great to be back....
