The Beauty of Leaving Comments!

Blogging is one of the most symbiotic relations there can be. Meaning that we all depend on each other. Why do people have blogs? It's a way for some to reach out to others, for some to share with others, for some to teach. In short we all want an audience.

This is one of the few times in life that people choose you on the basis of your inner self - not the way you look. It's nice to meet people and so liberating to let go and write without fear of censure or judgment.

Of course for it to succeed like any other symbiosis both parties have to benefit and that is where the amazing system of comments comes in. Anyone reading this will know - its quite an amazing feeling when someone takes the time and effort to leave behind what they think whether its a single line or a bigger explanation.

So much better than than just seeing an avatar in 'Recent Readers' widget.

It's the best way to introduce yourself - form a relation, a network that slowly expands and you build a group of people who become your familiars...and is it happens in a symbiotic relation its the best way for not only the person you left a comment for to reach your blog but also other people who have visited that blog. I know I check out a lot of blogs of the people who leave comments not only on my blog but other blogs...

A comment is a snapshot of you and your blog! And you never know who you will meet as a result of extending a small courtesy of taking your times and writing something and acknowledging another's existence.

It's just a nice thing to do - it makes me happy leaving comments, leaving traces of my presence in someone else's world!

Its just like saying hello when you meet someone for the first time or visit their house!!!

and i do believe in their own way,,, the comments are as much a window to the readers soul as the post is to the authors.....

It always feels like Christmas morning to me when I open my email and have received a comment. I know I'm betraying my inner goofball, but it's completely true. It always means so much that someone not only paid attention to what I wrote, but that it mattered enough to them to comment.

I feel exactly the same way you and hollygl do, RM. It's so true about the "recent readers" widget. It's cool to get visits and maybe know that those people read some posts, but nothing better than knowing what they thought about it, if they have anything to add, share or -duh- comment XD.
Nice post, deserved a comment ;)

I totally agree with you on the fact that many came but never said hello. I have pondered upon the thoughts expressed by you and while many may agree, there will be a few dissent. As it is, the art of saying hello is dying, many preferring texting, e-mailing etcc. As I had always told my friends, when you text me over the cell, it is not the same as hearing your voice. When you send an e-mail, how much thought is put in it as opposed to writing a letter. We now live in a world of abbreviations and I choose not to be part of it. Life is too short for us to have it abbreviated further. Cheers from Malaysia 101 and I am certainly looking forward to a long-lasting relationship with you.

I try to simply say hello when I have nothing else to say. I think its important both ways - for you to leave a trace of your presence and for the other person to have some acknowledge that they came & they saw

It's so nice to read the comments here reflecting my own sentiments. I still get that "woohoo" feeling when I know someone "Got Me" or just cared enough to say hi.

The best on line friends I've made were made through comments. You get used to certain people leaving them and you do the same for them. I leave comments for some that never write back. I know they read them though. Also, comments are really as personal as you can get on line, and it's surprising how well you can get to know someone. Thanks Random Magus,
I hope you have a great day!!!

I read on some blog about blogging that, in theory, blogging is where the author and commentors have a conversation about whatever topic the author proposes. In this case, I suppose it's about commenting.

Nice post.

I couldn't agree more with you, though I probably may have showed up as just a face in your "recent readers" widget just the other night...lol. I asked folks on my site to tell me about blogs they enjoy and someone mentioned yours. It was late, I stopped by for a moment to bookmark you and then went to bed, I think. I did however return...to say hello :)
